Rati Agnihotri’s peppy 23-year-old, 6-footer Tanuj Virwani is ready for the camera.The privileged only kid of a well-to-do builder-father and a comfortably-placed star mom, Tanuj Virwani is the kind of young man you’ll find on his parents’ weekend farmhouse, shooting a short film written by himself. And starring himself too, of course.
Because Tanuj is sure that this is where he wants to be – he wants to act and would rather cite Prateik Babbar’s route to fame than the conventional hero’s launch of other star kids.
After a stint as assistant director to Ken Ghosh on Chance Pe Dance where he learnt discipline from watching Shahid Kapoor turn up on the dot, even at 6 am, for shooting, Tanuj is sure that the creative medium completely satisfies him.
Ultimately, he will make films but acting is what he wants to do right now. “I’m ready for acting,” says Tanuj who has already been signed by BR Films for Purani Jeans, their youthful film with Giselle Monteiro (Saif’s Sikhni obsession in Love Aaj Kal).Meanwhile, he’s sifting other scripts as well, convinced that “script is king”, and damn a conventional launch.
Affable like his mother, and likeably garrulous, you’ve got to watch Tanuj do a take-off on every actor in town to know that this guy has it in him to make the film industry notice him. Now that’s an FSJ prediction.
